Our sales and warehouse services team are regularly asked whether we can facilitate short-run, individual cask bottlings for whisky clubs or private groups, and the answer is, absolutely!
Between Glenbrae Bond and Dalswinton Bond, there is an ever-growing cask inventory that has been carefully curated over the last 14 years to include a wide variety of young and mature spirit. Fresh oak casks have been specifically sourced and selected for maturation from global sources in a variety of sizes and finishes. The sourcing of these casks requires time and research to ensure the highest quality maturation results.
Maturation in octaves and quarter casks is a vital part of this programme. Achieving incredible results through a variety of spirit finishes. Due to the size of the cask and the nature of the liquid that once filled them, octaves impart flavour from the wood in a much shorter time period. Making them perfect for final maturation and finishing as well as smaller club bottlings.
PRECISION MATURATION AT DALSWINTON ESTATE
Our whiskies undergo secondary maturation in Octave or Quarter Cask at our HQ, Glenbrae Bond, which is located in Dumfries & Galloway.
Maturation times vary, but typically look like this:
- First fill Octaves: Minimum 3 months
- Second / Third Fill Casks: Minimum 6 months
We use small casks, Octaves (40-64L) and Quarters (Approx 125L,) to unlock intense and accelerated whisky maturation. Thanks to a higher wood-to-spirit ratio, these casks dramatically enhance colour, aroma and flavour, resulting in whiskies with depth and maturity far beyond their years. We don’t aim to change the whisky - we aim to amplify and refine its natural character.

Our smaller casks are repurposed from larger barrels that once held Sherry, Port, Brandy, Rum, Wine, Bourbon or other predecessor liquids, giving every drop added character and complexity.

- BOTTLING Your whisky is bottled at just the right moment, with close attention to quality and detail.
- DELIVERY Once bottled, your whisky is securely packed and shipped to you, ready to enjoy or share.
